At Fresh Start Health we treat opioid addiction because we understand why other approaches fail. Opioid addiction is a substance use disorder, which is a chronic disease that is called Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). It is not caused by a moral falling. OUD rewires an individual’s brain, and this makes it harder for people to quit. It has to be treated like other chronic diseases, and not all treatment programs do that.
